Community Resilience Forum

Watch the Time to Talk Community Resilience Forum

Wellingborough community leaders and business people joined us on Friday 27th January on the ‘Time to Talk Community Resilience Forum’ on Zoom and in person, to discuss how to help people cope in the town during the cost-of-living crisis. Jonathan, Co-op Member Pioneer Wellingborough, lead the Forum in person at ECO HUB, Glamis Hall, NN8 3RU, where refreshments were also available.

It’s Time to Talk Day on the 2nd February, and as it’s the nation’s biggest mental health conversation that was the theme for this month’s forum. Happening every year, it’s a day for friends, families, communities, and workplaces to come together to talk, listen and change lives. Run by Mind and Rethink Mental Illness, in partnership with the Co-op and with support from Time To Change Wales, See Me and Change Your Mind / Inspire, we will look at how to make space in your day for a conversation about mental health this Time to Talk Day.

We had a small presentation during the Community Resilience Forum about ideas on how to take part in Time to Talk Day, from organising an event in your local library or hosting a lunch and learn session to simply sharing information on social media or texting a friend. We all know the more conversations we have, the better life is for everyone. Talking about mental health isn’t always easy, but a conversation has the power to change lives. Hopefully the presentation might inspire you?

At the start of the forum, everyone was given the chance to introduce themselves and the organisation they represent. There was also the opportunity to network with each other and plenty of time to share events and activities. Do join us for a short presentation and a discussion next time, at 2pm on Friday 24th February, to see if you can help us and to see if we can help you. Warm and Well Community Resilience Forum

We hope that you enjoy this recording of the Warm and Well Community Resilience Forum on Zoom, that discusses how to help people keep warm and wellbeing in the town during the cost-of-living crisis.

Why Warm and Well?

Well, this winter is going to be the most challenging in living memory for all of us. The wellbeing of many local people will be greatly affected by the cost-of-living crisis, with some having to choose between heating and eating.

We can all of course help, but how? With new ‘Warm Rooms’ being set up by some community centres and other warm and well initiatives being offered locally; the need to work collaboratively to make what we offer makes sure that we help the most people.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on the Warm and Well Community Resilience Forum

Before we started recording at the start of the forum, everyone was given the chance to introduce themselves and, if applicable, the organisation they represent. Cost of Living Community Resilience Forum Part 2

Following on from last month’s Community Resilience Forum, where we looked at what the Cost of Living Crisis was. This month was all about what we can do to make a difference to help people to cope with rising costs during the cost of living crisis.

We then all discussed briefly how we can co-operate to offer new support services and how individual organisations are planning to offer more ways to help people with rising costs. We also looked at how we can share our activities more by adding a new calendar to our website.

The next Community Resilience Forum will look other resilience options to offer people facing hardship and setting up an in person Wellingborough Forum to give people the chance to put their views across. Join in on Friday 28th October at 2pm.
